This popular Chinese melody was composed during the mid-twentieth century.  It is folk-like in both musical character and subject.  The English transliteration should be pronounced exactly as written using Latin vowels.   For younger choirs or ensembles with fewer singers, this arrangement may be performed without the bass voice part.
